The American Quarter Horse Foundation is committed to the development of young adults and their continuous involvement in the equine industry. The AQHLead program is now accepting applications for the Class of 2021. This program is designed for young adults, ages 19-34, to help support their development as young leaders in the equine industry.

AQHLead grants of $5,000 will be awarded to 10 applicants for the Class of 2021 to offset the cost of participation. Grant recipients will participate in the program for the term from the 2020 AQHA Convention in March 2020 in Las Vegas to the 2021 AQHA Convention.

During the program year, participants will be partnered with a mentor from the American Quarter Horse industry. These mentors will include AQHA committee chairpersons. AQHLead participants will shadow their mentor’s leadership activities in service to AQHA and the equine industry, and participants will maintain monthly contact with their mentors to gain more insight into their roles in guiding impactful industry decisions.

Selected young adults will attend three major industry events, of which two will include the 2020 and 2021 AQHA conventions. Additionally, participants will engage in monthly conference calls with fellow AQHLead participants and program leadership. AQHLead is supported by a grant from the Dogwood Foundation.
