ApHC press release MOSCOW, Idaho – For the open bidding period that ended December 31st, a total of 47 services were sold in the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) Stallion Service Auction, generating approximately $41,000, 75 percent of which will be part of the prize money added to the pot for resulting foals that are eventually entered in World Show two-year-old incentive classes. Stallion services that were not sold in the first round are available on a first-come, first-served basis at one-half the advertised stud fee on the “MyHorseForSale” website where prospective bidders will find a “Buy Now” button for immediate purchase. This portion of the auction ends March 31, 2014.

Foals resulting from services purchased in the auction can be nominated to their respective two-year-old incentive classes at the World Show by notifying the Appaloosa Horse Club. Nomination fees are not required for these foals. As a bonus for their support, stallion owners have the opportunity to nominate one foal from the same stallion without paying additional fees. A new feature of the stallion service auction is the option for owners of other foals sired by stallions sold in the service auction to pay a nomination fee for incentive-class eligibility. A complete fee schedule and deadlines may be found on the appaloosa.com website by clicking on the World Sale link at the bottom of the home page.

Special Note: 2013 foals by stallions sold in this year’s service auction may be nominated to their respective two-year-old incentive classes by making a one-time payment of $750 no later than June 30, 2014. And, 2014 foals can be nominated by making a first payment of $250 by December 15, 2014 and a second payment of $500 by the end of their yearling year.

The expanded auction is just part of an effort to enhance the incentive classes and improve the overall marketing climate for Appaloosa horses. “Our goal is very simply to add value for the stallion owners, mare owners and, ultimately, to build the purses for our three incentive classes,” states Jack Zuidema, ApHC Sale Committee Chairman. “Moving forward, we’ll be working on more ways to fulfill the mission of promoting the breed and providing quality programs for our members.”

Stallion Services Sold as of December 31, 2013 (Includes Appaloosa and Quarter Horse Sires)
