The Paul Horn Memorial Trophy

In 2024, we shared an EC Blog by Shannon Rafacz about a special full circle moment in which she acquired the Paul Horn numbered 1 bronze. something she’d dreamed of as long as she could remember.

We were delighted to receive this message about the bronze recently from Rich Favicchia, the son of the sculptor:
I happen to be the son of the sculptor who was friends with and was commissioned by Mitch Zuckerman to create the Paul Horn Memorial Trophy! I also created my father’s website that contained all of the bronze sculptures that he created, along with a story about each sculpture, written by my father. The image of the bronze we used on the website is this one:

And the story attached to it is this:
“Paul Horn Memorial Trophy”This trophy was commissioned by Mitch Zuckerman and donated to the N.R.H.A. to be awarded yearly to the year-end high point youth reining horse rider. It was first presented in 1987 at the Reining Futurity in Oklahoma City. The bronze depicts Paul riding the “perfect circle” for which he was known. The piece is true to the riding style of the man.
It doesn’t seem to be the exact one that you show in your blog post, since the reins are in a different position. But everything else is the same, even his name on the base! It’s also possible that my dad’s name [John Favicchia]is on it somewhere, too!
I was looking through the website and searched on “Paul Horn Memorial Trophy” and I just thought you might find it interesting!
