By Jessica Hein, PHJ News:
Double your chances of earning a trophy buckle by entering Intermediate division classes at the 2026 APHA World Championship Show. This year, we’ve got even more ways to win: 94 Intermediate division classes that award Gist Silversmith trophy buckles to champions and reserve winners, plus more prizes to the Top Five contenders—all of which comes courtesy of sponsor Boehringer Ingelheim. Intermediate classes mean more ways to win for you and your Paint!
Notable Highlights:
- 94 Intermediate classes in 2026
- Class within a class, concurrent with select world championship classes
- You must enter the main class to be eligible to enter the Intermediate division.
- Participation is limited to those exhibitors who meet certain eligibility criteria
- Have not placed in the Top Two for the past five years in the same discipline at events like the APHA World Show, AQHA World Show, NSBA World Show or All American Quarter Horse Congress.

It Pays to be Paint: Paint Horses that earn points in APHA world championship classes also earn Paynt Points payouts. That’s part of APHA’s twice-a-year incentives that reward Paints for their performance in APHA-approved shows. APHA’s added more than $1 million to those payouts in 2026, including Open, Amateur, Novice, Youth and Walk-Trot events, plus the Color Bonus incentive which amplifies earnings for colorful Paint Horses.
