The Ranch Division has become one of the most competitive in the industry, so winning two classes in a row – with the same horse – is a respectable feat indeed. Steve Meadows accomplished just that at the 2025 APHA World Championship Show with Cookies And Dream for Kathryne Zachrich.
First up, Steve and the mare by Magnum Chic Dream and out of Dunit The Gunnar Way cinched a win in the Green Ranch Trail, just to follow again with a championship in the Junior Ranch Trail.
“Cookie” was Steve’s futurity horse in 2024, he explains, and she has evolved into a great trail horse as well as a great show horse. Part of the answer to her success is the entire picture she offers. “She has such a presence about her, she’s a great mover, she’s so pretty, and she’s very even tempered,” he says.
She demonstrated that transition into a great show horse by wrapping up 2024 and kicking off 2025 at the Gold/Gulf Coast Circuits with Circuit Championships in Jr. Working Western Rail and VRH Open Ranch Riding with Steve, followed by a stellar show in 2025 at A Sudden Impulse with a Reserve Select High Point Ranch Horse with owner, Kate. Noel Meadows also showed Cookie to a Reserve Championship in the NSBA $2,000 Junior Ranch Trail, as well as a Bronze Championship in the NSBA $1,000 Junior Working Western Rail in Ocala.
Of course, Cookie is a mare, so Steve says she’s “a diva and thinks everybody is here for her entertainment. Mares can be tough, but when you get a great mare, it’s a great horse, and she has definitely become one of our favorite mares of all time.”
They plan on taking her to all the majors this year to see if they can keep their streak going! Keep scrolling for results for the APHA World Championship classes:
