Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Megan has called Fort Worth home for the past six years. A longtime horse show competitor, she grew up competing in all-around events and was recruited to ride on the Texas Christian University Equestrian Team. She graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from TCU’s Neeley School of Business and has been working in the marketing sector ever since.

AQHA Honors “The Last Cowboy” and “Yellowstone” Director, Taylor Sheridan, With Special Award

Among many other acting, directing and writing credentials, Sheridan is the director, writer and producer of the Paramount Network television series “Yellowstone.” The drama, starring Kevin Costner, follows a family’s fight to save their Montana ranch. This year, Sheridan created and produced “The Last Cowboy,” a Paramount television reality series that followed professional reining trainers and their horses as they prepared for and competed at the Run for a Million. Sheridan hosted the event in September in Las Vegas, where 10 riders vied for their share of $1 million. “The Last Cowboy” and The Run for a Million will return in 2020, and “Yellowstone” recently finished filming its third season.

A startling result indicated that 75% of the children surveyed had experienced at least one type of painful incident more than once, yet only 7.3% said they had modified their behavior (e.g., keeping fingers away from the horse’s mouth after having been bitten). “We were quite surprised that these incidents had little impact on children’s behavior around horses,” says Genik. “This implies that the incidents may continue to occur even if they could be prevented – and we know from recent work that many incidents around horses may actually be preventable.”
