Youth Jordan Macan Wins A Sudden Impulse $10K Maturity Non Pro Western Pleasure

Winning a class like the NSBA $10,000 Maturity Non Pro & Limited Non Pro Western Pleasure at A Sudden Impulse 2025 is the stuff of dreams for non pros of any age. Imagine grabbing that top spot while you still have two years left as a youth rider and accomplishing the feat on the first true pleasure horse you’ve owned.

That dream has come true for all around youth rider Jordan Macan, who has been enjoying the journey with Hay Girl Hayy, a 2021 AQHA/APHA mare by Hay Goodlookn and out of Johnnie On The Spot.

“She’s just a great mare– she’s just perfect,” Jordan explains. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner, or a better trainer. It’s frankly scary going out there with all those good riders, and I’m so proud of her.”

Hay Girl Hayy and RJ King won the NSBA 3 & Over Maiden Horse Open Western Pleasure at A Sudden Impulse 2024.

The mare she affectionately calls “Sasha” made big news at A Sudden Impulse in 2024 by winning the much anticipated NSBA 3 & Over Maiden Horse Open Western Pleasure at A Sudden Impulse at WEC with trainer RJ King of King Show Horses, for breeders Capital Quarter Horses LLC.

That same year, Jordan’s family purchased Sasha, aka “Sushi Roll,” from Capital Quarter Horses after Jordan says she saw the mare at King Show Horses and fell in love with her. So they kept the mare with RJ and Blair Townsend, who both continued to win with Sasha.  (Read Blair’s interview after being crowned champions of the 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress Three Year Old Limited Open Western Pleasure Futurity: Hay Girl Hayy wins Three Year Old Limited Open Western Pleasure Futurity at 2024 QH Congress | Equine Chronicle

Blair Townsend won the 3 YO Limited Open Western Pleasure Futurity, with Hay Girl Hayy for owner Jordan Macan, at the 2024 QH Congress.

Jordan found early success with Hay Girl Hayy, grabbing a Gold Globe in the L2 3YO Non Pro Western Pleasure Stakes at the 2024 AQHA World Championship Show, and the Reserve Championship in the Color BCF 3 YO Non Pro Western Pleasure at the 2024 NSBA World Championship Show, to name just two of their accomplishments.

And along the way, the all-around youth rider came to value the discipline of western pleasure in a way she didn’t expect.

“I haven’t really been a pleasure rider at all, and having a horse like her has been a really cool experience – and a long journey,” she notes.  “People don’t realize how tough the pleasure is until you actually go out there, so it has really made me appreciate the foundation they put on their horses so much more.”

Jordan found early success with Hay Girl Hayy in classes like L2 3YO Non Pro Western Pleasure Stakes at the 2024 AQHA World Championship Show.

As far as what else she loves about Sasha as her show partner, she says, “Everything! She’s pretty much perfect. She’s a good girl, and she’s so kind – very much a saint, and she’s a very, very happy horse!”

Jordan has enjoyed showing in the WEC Grand Hotel Arena immensely.  “It has been awesome. I love WEC – it’s a great place to show and it’s always just a great experience to come out here because I live in Missouri and coming here to nice warm weather. It’s amazing and I love the facility.”

She’s looking forward to attending The Premier in Kentucky with Sasha and showing at the AQHYA World Show this summer.
