The American Quarter Horse Foundation is committed to the development of young adults and their continuous involvement in the equine industry, and is proud to announce the launch of AQHLead. This program is designed for young adults, ages 19-34, to help support their development as young leaders in the equine industry.

AQHLead grants of $5,000 have been awarded to 10 applicants for the inaugural class to offset the cost of participation. Grant recipients will participate in the program for the term from the 2019 AQHA Convention to the 2020 AQHA Convention.

The 10 grant recipients are:

  • Abigail Pait
  • Alan Hinds
  • Ann Elizabeth Tebow
  • April Bonds
  • Brock Murphy
  • Emily Messing
  • Emily Tobler
  • Jacelyn Watt
  • Sydney Reynolds
  • Ty Cornelius

During the program year, participants will be partnered with a mentor from the American Quarter Horse industry. These mentors will be an AQHA committee chairperson. AQHLead participants will shadow their mentor’s leadership activities in service to AQHA and the equine industry and will maintain monthly contact with their mentors to gain more insight into their role in guiding impactful industry decisions.

These young adults will attend three major industry events, two of which will include the 2019 and 2020 AQHA conventions. AQHLead is supported by a grant from the Dogwood Foundation.
