Watch Out, Horse World! Leadliner Remington Taylor Has Entered the Scene

Sometimes you meet a young person you’re sure will be a success, and potentially a future leader.

Today, for us, that person was Remington Taylor, who showed multiple World Champion Ill B At The Bar (by The Good Ranger and out of Six Ways To Sundi) with the help of trainer Shannon Watters in Leadline at the APHA World Show. And she came out of the class of 16 as the overall winner.

When asked about “Troy,” after the class, Remington didn’t hesitate.  “I love this horse. He’s my favorite horse and he’s special,” she explained.  “He’s just gorgeous and he helps me win.  He got extra rest today so he can help me win and we tried our very best.”

The determined young lady said her secret to success, in addition to the talent of the incredible Troy, was her confidence, and their mutual respect. “He was nice to me, and I was nice to him, and he was nice to me a lot more.”

When we asked how Remington was able to get the opportunity to ride such a special horse, she revealed, “He’s just always been there for me.” She also said that Troy and his barn buddy, Calvin (aka Obsessed To Be Best, owned by the Goffard family), are best friends and are getting married.

We asked Remington how important trainer Shannon Watters is to her, and she had this to say: “Well, Miss Shannon is like a big sister to me. She’s always taking care of me, making sure I’m ready, making sure I’m right, and pretty, and looking gorgeous. She always helps, and my crew’s always there when I need them.”

Most importantly, Remington added that Troy’s favorite treats are peppermints, which he would definitely be receiving when he got back to the stalls.

Remington has set her future showing sights set on Trail, which she loves, when she’s ready to show independently.  She has already tried going over poles, doing the gate, and going over the bridge, as well as turning in the box.

Look out, trail exhibitors! We think we’ll see Remington’s name again on the leaderboards and possibly in lights soon.
