Tammy

By: Brittany Bevis

Numerous World Champions have been crowned today here at the 2019 APHA World Championship Show. Over in the Watt Arena, WCHA Halter classes are on the schedule. The first Champion of the day was Tammy Bradshaw and FB Lies and Alibis in WCHA Intermediate Non Pro Weanling Colts.

This was Tammy’s first time showing in a WCHA Futurity class here at the APHA World Show, and she was thrilled to walk away with a buckle and nice check for $1,650. This was also the first time that she’s had the opportunity to show the striking bay colt she calls “Gabe.”

“He’s very refined,” she says. “He’s by Telasecret and out of a Palomino mare, JMKS Blonde Barbie, that Terry showed and won at the Palomino World with when she was two. He’s actually named after the song, Lies and Alibis, by Bradley Cooper. Terry is friends with Bradley, so Terry is going to have to send a picture to Bradley to show him that his namesake won!

Assisting Tammy with preparations for today’s class was trainer, Jarrell Jackson. And just because Gabe did very well in today’s class, Tammy wants to make sure that he doesn’t get any ideas… “I just told Jarrell when I went to the wall that this is now my horse and nobody is allowed to buy him, because this was the first time I showed him, and he was a perfect little angel,” Tammy laughs. “I really enjoyed this Futurity. I think it’s a great location, and I’m very impressed with the way this futurity is run. They are very efficient and run things quickly. I’ve been really impressed.”

Erin

Over in the John Justin arena, another Bradshaw lady was named a World Champion in Amateur Trail. Erin Bradshaw rode her 13-year-old stallion, John Simon, to his second World title in the class.

“He was amazing today,” Erin says. “We were trying to get through the Western Pleasure finals first, which he won last night. Jenna Hyde has been helping me with Trail, so after the class last night we went out and practiced, and he was really good. Then, we got up early this morning, and he was really good again.”

“It was a hard pattern, because it was tight. But, he really excels at the tighter patterns, because you can suck him back or push him forward. I think that comes from his background as a pleasure horse- where he is able to extend his stride when he needs to, but he comes back to you, because his natural reaction is not to go forward.”

In addition to today’s win in Trail, Erin and John also won Amateur Senior Western Pleasure here at the show for the sixth time in a row!

“He loves it. He’s a show horse. I let John tell me what he wants to do. The biggest thing about him is that he enjoys his job, and he’s happy and healthy. We don’t push him or overdo it, because his health and self-care come before any of this for me.”

Also here at the show, Erin showed John’s son, Elicious, to win Amateur Junior Western Pleasure. John also sired the Novice Amateur Western Pleasure Champion, Leggs For Days. Coming up next, John will be ridden by Rusty Green in Senior Western Pleasure.

The Reserve Champion in the class was Serena Rubin with Box Office Sensation. Third was Christine Weiser-Zimmerman. Fourth was Lauren McNabb with Plenty of Good Rhythm. Fifth was Spencer Chelwick with Goodnight Charlie.

Luke

In WCHA Senior Weanling Colts, Luke Castle was at the lead of FG Defender for new owner, Josh Weakly. Luke purchased “Cooper” at the Breeders’ Halter Futurity when he won Open Weanling Colts with Clint Cooper. Then, he was purchased by Josh Weakly a few days later.

“I saw him when he sold at Terry Bradshaw’s sale, and he’d done so much since then that I bought him,” Luke says. “He’s very square made, good-legged, and a big colt. He’s got a lot to him and is deep hearted. Even as big as he is, his legs have stayed good. He’s got a good foundation.”

Cooper is by Very Cool and was bred and raised by Fossil Gate Farms. Coming up next, he will head to the AQHA World Show.

Leanne

The Reserve Champion in the class was Jason Smith with Chasin Big Dreams. Third was Buddy Laney with FG Hypnotizing. Fourth was Leanne Bandy with Expotential. Fifth was Tammy Bradshaw with TB Lies and Alibis.

The Non Pro Champion and Leading Owner/Breeder/Exhibitor was also Leanne Bandy with Expotential. The Color division Champion was Buddy Laney with FG Hypnotizing.
