Silver Dollar Circuit- Daily Stride #5- Sharing Our Victories

Filed under: Club & Show News,Club and Show News |

If you have shown in any discipline with any breed on the West Coast, you have had your name called by Taffy Wolf. Also, known as “The Wolf,” Taffy has been announcing for over 35 years and has been at the Silver Dollar Circuit for over 20 consecutive years. Taffy is celebrating her birthday (we don’t divulge a lady’s age) but let’s just say it is definitely worth as Happy Birthday when you see her.

Taffy spent the early part of her career in banking but found her calling with horse show announcing. She has dedicated her life’s work to the performance horse community. Ann Hathborn, chief ring steward at the Silver Dollar, said the first thing she remembers about meeting Taffy was how well respected she was among the ropers, cutter, and cattle guys. She said she was in such awe of what high regard those cowboys held her.

Taffy has announced for every type of event, and on any given weekend she can be found at any horse show from Reining to an APHA show. She is known for her “sweet jams,” always good for an old Country playlist or livening up any arena for a Cow Horse or Reining finals with some Rock tunes. There may or may not have been a time that we tried to convince “The Wolf” that she should start off every morning with a wolf howl and close the day with the phrase, “this has been a lone wolf production.” But she has yet to take us up on her new calling card… yet.

Everyone who knows her has a great story to tell about Taff, from Roping buzzers being strategically placed to make her jump to tales of admiration from her consistent and clear voice and classy persona. Taffy has been a staple player in our horse show lives, a constant that we have unknowingly learned to rely on. Whether you are aware or not, you too have a story that includes Taffy. She may have been there to call out your first win and maybe your first ever circuit award, and if not she has called out the many in between. The victories and the defeats. Taffy has been there for them all with us. She has played a part in your horse show career and will continue to be a part of some of the most victorious moments in our lives.

So today, let us celebrate Taff as she has celebrated our triumphs with us throughout the years. ‘The Wolf” deserves her named to be announced today. When you see her, be sure to tell her Thank You and Happy Birthday. We appreciate all you do for us Taffy Wolf!
