Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, located in the heart of Oklahoma City, is celebrating thirty-two years in the business. They are a staple at all the big shows, and the owner, Lavonna “Shorty” Koger, is as iconic as the hats she sells.

Koger’s partner, Bobbie Gough, who has worked at Shorty’s since 2003, and the rest of the Shorty’s team, have forged a name that’s synonymous with success, style, and longevity. They take pride in the “Perfect Fit” of their hats and their individual attention to customers.

In 2020, Koger was inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, an honor she has earned through living the life of a true cowgirl and carrying on the time-honored tradition of producing the finest custom-made hats in the industry. Shorty’s Caboy Hattery specializes in custom hats with a wide variety of options and colors. They offer felt, straw, beaver/Rex Hare mix, and beaver mink hats in all shapes and sizes. Shorty’s has a wide selection of finely made hats off the shelf, or they will customize a fully bespoke hat to make a personal fashion statement. In her shop, Shorty’s hats are handmade and built for form, function, and style.

Shorty’s can create intricate laser designs, custom banding, fine detail, and complementary stitching. They guarantee a hat made of the finest materials and craftsmanship for cowboys and cowgirls of all ages.

While Shorty’s hats are often found in the show pen and at rodeos, you don’t have to be an equestrian to enjoy the quality of a well-made cowboy hat. While trends may come and go, the cowboy hat, itself, makes a statement. Shorty’s Caboy Hattery describes its representation as this: “You open and hold doors for ladies. You use your best manners all the time. You protect and speak up for the young, the weak, and the elderly. A cowboy hat means you have a can-do attitude, and you won’t be swayed by popular opinion, jeers, or bullies. You do what’s right.” Like the cowboy hats she produces, Koger is also uniquely American and emblematic of the West.
