The Executive Committee approved a recommendation from the Western Dressage Task Force to adopt western dressage as an AQHA-recognized discipline in 2018. The Executive committee also approved the use of task forces to investigate the health of the hunter division, review of the show leveling system and the viability of a special-event rodeo held in conjunction with the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show.

“The oxygen tank couldn’t inflate the foal’s lungs, so I ended up taking deep draws of oxygen from the tank and blowing into the foal to keep it alive. We ended up running out of oxygen about two miles from the hospital, but by that time it was breathing on its own, with occasional help from me.”

Exhibitors at the 2016 Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships shined their boots and dusted off their hats for the first day of competition yesterday at the Gov. James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. The show kicked off at 8 a.m. with Level 1 youth working hunter.

The American Quarter Horse Association is soliciting host-site bids for the 2016 Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse and John Deere AQHA Cowboy Mounted Shooting World Championships, to be held in spring 2017. The inaugural Zoetis VRH World was held in 2008 in Denver, during the National Western Stock Show and then relocated in 2011 to Houston, during the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
