Sabine Lazo was moved to tears when she was announced as the recipient of the Robyn Hanna Sportsmanship Award on July 5 at the 2017 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show. An anonymous panel selected Sabine, who is from Caldwell, Texas, for the award based on her outstanding display of sportsmanship throughout the World Show. She received a $1,000 scholarship and a custom Gist Silversmiths trophy buckle.

Other events include a church service at 9 a.m. on August 6, followed by The Paws Cause, a dog adoption event at 11 a.m. Both will be held in the Sales Pavilion (Barn 3). Ford Youth World attendees have the opportunity to visit with colleges and universities at the college fair 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on August 7 and 8 in Section 300 in the Jim Norick Arena. Then at 7 a.m. on August 8, come get a free breakfast sandwich with AQHA Professional Horsemen in Section 300.

“The signs of repetitive stress injury are quite broad. Although many horses appear obviously lame in one limb, this is a disorder that commonly afflicts two, three, or four fetlocks. As a result, trainers or jockeys often describe the horse as simply ‘moving poorly,’ and general observations give the impression that the horse just looks uncomfortable and stiff, not necessarily lame,” Professor Richardson said.
