NSBA Youth Profile- Emma Tarter
The Love of Horses and Showing

Emma Tarter has had a love for horses since she was a little girl. From Plainfield, IN, she has been riding since she was six years old. When asked what she loved most about showing horses, Emma replied, “I really can’t pinpoint it to just one thing.”
She says that she really enjoys the entire experience. From the people that she has met, the horses she has known, and the knowledge that she has gained, showing horses has had a huge effect on her life.
Showing since she was nine, Emma’s show partner is “Catch Twenty Two,” affectionately known as Will. They show under the guidance of Dale Hamilton. When asked to give an interesting fact about Will, Emma told me that his favorite treat is animal crackers. Together, they compete in Trail, Horsemanship, Showmanship, Equitation, and Hunter Under Saddle. Emma loves to show in all of those classes, but her favorite is Trail.”
Emma has shown from the Midwest to Oklahoma City, and in Florida; however, the All-American Quarter Horse Congress is her favorite show where she competes. She loves the atmosphere, the large number of people, and the support of everyone around her.
Emma’s favorite program offered by NSBA is the Smart Points program. She’s thankful for the opportunity to be able to earn scholarship money while doing what she loves. Outside of the show ring, Emma enjoys being outside and spending time with her dogs, Archie and Jovie. She also participates in musicals and has an interest in photography. We wish Emma the best of luck throughout the rest of the show season!
