If you plan on utilizing Novice reinstatement to compete at the 2015 APHA World Championship Show, it’s time to hustle. Novice reinstatement applications affecting exhibitors at the 2015 APHA World Show are due in the office no later than October 15.

The Novice reinstatement program is designed to make your return to the show ring as smooth and successful as possible. So what does this mean for you? If you have earned nine or fewer points in any category in any division in the past 10 years, you can apply to have your Novice Amateur status reinstated per Rule AM-205 in the 2015 Official APHA Rule Book.

“An individual who previously became ineligible for Novice Amateur status in a category due to the point restriction, World or Reserve Championship title, or earnings, may have their Novice Amateur status in that category restored if, in the past 10 years prior to their re-application they have not earned ten (10) or more APHA points and/or other associations’ revalued performance points (ROM), any performance points, money or a World Champion or Reserve World Champion title in any recognized equine association, in that category, including but not limited to APHA, AQHA, IBHA, PHBA, PtHA, AHA, AMHA, ABRA, POA, NCHA, NBHA and/or NRHA.”

Reinstatement is completed ONLY upon request. The reinstatement form should be accompanied by a Novice Amateur card application if needed, and applicants should make sure to fill both out completely.

“The Novice Reinstatement program allows exhibitors who have stepped out of the horse world for a few years a new opportunity for success,” said Christine Henry, Director of Amateur Activities. “They can return to the show ring and compete at a level at which they feel comfortable.”

On average, processing takes two to three business weeks without a rush-processing fee. For any Amateur and Novice Amateur application—including reinstatement—it is the responsibility of the applicant to fully disclose their complete show history. For ease of processing, performance records from all recognized equine association competition should be sent in with the Novice Amateur application and reinstatement form—see Rule AM-205 in the 2015 Official APHA Rule Book for details.

Questions can be directed to Director of Amateur Activities Christine Henry at 817-222-6436 or chenry@apha.com.
