WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association on Tuesday announced its September Riders of the Month, as determined by the NCEA selection committee and honoring standout performances from the opening month of collegiate equestrian.

 Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month: Schaefer Raposa, SMU

  • Earned a pair of wins over fences during the month of September, garnering MVP honors over fences in each of her two competitions.
  • Both individual victories came against opponents from ranked schools – No. 6 Oklahoma State and No. 8 TCU.
  • Averaged a score of 86.5 over fences for the month of September.

Equitation On The Flat Rider of the Month: Molly Peddicord, TCU

  • Earned a victory on the flat in her team’s 10-9 win over then No. 9 SMU on the road.
  • Charted her team’s highest score this season (89) on the flat in that victory.
  • Defeated her opponent from SMU by 8.0 points.

 Horsemanship Rider of the Month: Logan Pluhar, Texas A&M

  • Earned MVP honors and a meet-best score of 77 in horsemanship in Texas A&M’s competition at No. 1 Georgia.
  • Defeated her opponent from Georgia by 3.5 points.
  • Holds the SEC’s highest score this season in horsemanship.
  • Helped the Aggies win the western discipline, 6-3, against the top-ranked Bulldogs in Texas A&M’s narrow 10-9 loss at Georgia.
  • Pluhar earned her first MVP honor since the 2013-14 season.

 Reining Rider of the Month: Ashley Dotson, Texas A&M

  • Earned a reining victory in her team’s competition at No. 1 Georgia.
  • Posted a score of 73 and defeated her opponent by 1.5 points.
  • Helped the Aggies win the western discipline, 6-3, against the top-ranked Bulldogs in Texas A&M’s narrow 10-9 loss at Georgia.

NCEA Announces Latest Team Rankings

WACO, Texas – There was little change to the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Team Rankings, which were determined by the NCEA Selection Committee and announced on Tuesday.

In the only change to this week’s rankings, New Mexico State moved up to No. 9, while SMU, which dropped a pair of competitions over the weekend, is now No. 10.

The 2016 NCEA Championship will take place April 14-16 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.
