Mandy McCutcheon and Ms Whiz Dunit Win NRHA Futurity Non Pro Go-round
Press release by: Christa Morris – The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) is edging closer to its final weekend. Today’s show spotlighted section two of the $260,000-added Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity. The show runs through December 7 at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Purse estimates for this year’s non pro event look strong due to nearly 600 entries across all divisions. The 2013 NRHA Futurity Non Pro will pay a total of more than $590,000 with nearly $300,000 going to level 1 through level 3 non pro division entries. In all, nearly $30,000 will be paid in nominator incentives.

Mandy McCutcheon (Aubrey, Texas) and her Ms Whiz Dunit (Topsail Whiz x A Bueno Poco Dunit) jumped to the top of the level 4 non pro standings with a score of 219. Mandy and the mare won the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Non Pro in October to bring her freshman earnings to more than $7,700.
Lisa Bissell (Ft. Valley, Ga.) and Starlights Lil Belle (Bueno Starlight x Beaus Liberty Belle) marked a 217.5 yesterday to finish in second in the level 4 non pro division and first in the level 3 non pro division. Jamie Bissell owns the gelding that has already earned more than $4,000 this year.

In today’s section, Tish Fappani (Scottsdale, Ariz.) rode her stallion Big Creme Chic (Big Chex To Cash x Cremes Chic Olena) to a score of 216.5. That ride moved them into third place in the level 4 non pro division. Tish and her husband, Andrea, both have shown the 3-year-old to win more than $8,000 at events like the High Roller Reining Classic and Reining By The Bay.
Anne Reynolds (King Hill, Ida.) aboard her Shiney Smart Sparks (Very Smart Remedy x Shirley Shine) and Indy Roper (Hobart, Ind.) riding Samantha Roper’s Tinkers Redneck(Gunner x Tinker Nic) moved to fourth place in the level 4 non pro and held second place in the level 3 non pro division with matching scores of 216 posted yesterday.
Wining the go-round in the level 2 non pro division was Stoney Russell (Longview, Texas) and his Gotta Get Er Done with a 214.5. The son of Spooks Gotta Gun and Zans Hickory Girl has earned more than $6,000 this year.
Two entries marked a 214 yesterday to tie for second place in the level 2 non pro division: Katie Forest (Valley View, Texas) with Frank Forest’s Jacquis Banjo (Banjo Whiz x Musk Be Bueno) and Julia Gaupmann (Euchenau, Austria) riding her Tinseltownsmokingun (Gunner x Miss Tinseltown). Gaupmann and her stallion won the level 1 non pro division.
With a 213.5, Maggie Gratny (Aubrey, Texas) and Wallywood (Walla Walla Whiz x Custom Mahogany) finished in the second place spot in the level 1 division for owner Mark Gratny.
Youth member Emily Winegar took home championship honors in the youth non pro division on A Wimpy Remedy (Wimpys Little Step x Remedys Sure Slide, owned by Green Valley Ranch) with a score of 213. Former Youth Non Pro Champion Jaci Marley (Plainview, Tex.) earned second place this year on Jennifer Marley’s Sailon Mega (Topsail Whiz x Mi Mega) with a score of 212. Youth Non Pro division placings are determined by go-round score.
A portion of the go-round entries will move on to Friday’s non pro finals:
– Level 4 non pro division – Bubble score: 213
– Level 3 non pro division – Bubble score: 212
– Level 2 non pro division – Bubble score: 211.5
– Level 1 non pro division – Bubble score: 206.5
A portion of the go-round entries will move on to Thursday’s consolation round for another opportunity to advance to the finals:
– Level 4 non pro division – Bubble score: 209.5
– Level 3 non pro division – Bubble score: 209.5
– Level 2 non pro division – Bubble score: 208.5
– Level 1 non pro division – Bubble score: 203.5
