Kristen Galyean and Girl Code
The 56 entries in Wednesday’s 3 Year Old Non Pro NSBA Western Pleasure Futurity read like a Hollywood roster of phenomenal three-year-olds; horses like Truth Or Daree, Boifriend Material, Lookn Like Trouble, Fourmula 1, Thursty Thursday, and the list goes on.
After the splits were completed and the finals were underway, earning three firsts and a second to win the class and $9287.07: Kristen Galyean and Girl Code, a much talked about mare by VS Code Red and out of Missy Machine, bred by Paullette Christen.
Shown earlier this year by both Aaron Moses and Kristen Galyean, “Annie” delivered the expected spectacular performance she’d become known for, carrying on Galyean’s breeding program stardom.
“Paullette has been a very loyal breeder from my lineage of horses, and we had talked about her dam, about who to breed to together. And so for it to turn out like it has, it’s really a dream come true for her and for me,” reveals Kristen. “So it’s been really special. She’s been so solid all year, basically since she debuted.”
Kristen adds that Annie has the best mind, and she loves people. “She’s a real pleaser, and she’s just happy and that makes my job and Aaron’s job really easy.” As she spoke, her daughter’s affectionately petted and hugged Annie, and Kristen laughed, “I’m sure I’m going to lose her to them pretty fast, but that’s okay. She’s going to have a place in the family for life, and we’ll have some babies, so we’re excited.”
In the final go today, Kristen says Annie’s biggest strength was her consistency. “What I love about her is you just kind of just sit up there and you just get to push the whole time,” she explains. “She really doesn’t want to go anywhere, so it makes the rider’s job really fun and enjoyable, and her expression is just incredible. She’s just so big and strong and it’s easy for her, so she’s just very fun horse, and very endearing. Every time I get to ride her, I’m very excited and blessed.”
