The Iowa Quarter Horse Association Ranch Horse Futurity returns to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, for the 7th annual futurity scheduled for September 17-21, 2025. This exciting horse event draws horse and riders from 13 states across the Midwest from as far away as Colorado and South Dakota.

In 2024, ranch futurity riders and owners were awarded over $198,000 in cash and prizes.“Last year, the show had over $2,500,000 impact on the economy. Of that, $1,269,000 was just in the Des Moines metro area. This is a great opportunity for owners and riders to promote their talented horses both here in Iowa and across the country,” said committee co-chair Scott Schumann.

The event is free to the public to watch. Saturday night, Jacobsen Arena will host the fast-paced cow horse events. See cowboys and cowgirls show off their expert ranch skills that you would see on a working ranch.

The IQHA Ranch Horse Futurity is part of the Iowa Quarter Horse Association Fall Classic & Futurity, which also includes a 6-judge AQHA-approved show — including a 3-judge Versatility Ranch Horse show and the IQHA Breeders Futurity halter and pleasure classes for their
closed futurity offspring.
