Gerri Leigh Pratt Wins AQHA Am. Yearling Fillies With Secretz Galore, First Foal Shown by Her Stallion

Gerri Leigh Pratt’s win this morning in Amateur Yearling Fillies marks a very special occasion because Secretz Galore is the first foal to be shown by her stallion, Secretz. “Cleopatra” is by Secretz and out of Pratt’s former Congress and World Champion mare.

“This is a filly that’s out of a mare that I showed at the Congress and the World and was Grand and World Champion with,” Pratt says. “Her name is Kids Keeping Cool, and she is my baby doll. [Cleopatra] is by my stallion Secretz, so this is the first Secretz that has been shown.”

“She’s very much a good combination of the two. I think she wants to be a show hrose. She got in there and was one. She was fabulous. She showed for me like a shot dog.”

Fitting Pratt’s yearling since the very beginning has been AQHA Professional Horseman, Jeffrey Pait.

“Jeffrey has had her from the get go,” she says. “He’s fabulous. He’s a great trainer and a lot of fun. This was his little project, and it worked out beautifully for him.”

Prior to the class today, Pratt had only shown Cleopatra one other time, just to qualify to compete here at the AQHA World Show. Later in the show, Pait will show the filly in the open division.

Given the success of this first foal to be shown by her stallion, Pratt is looking forward to the future to see what Secretz can bring to the halter horse industry. Secretz is a 2008 bay stallion by The Top Secret and out of Teloquence, by Telusive.

“[He gives his foals] great minds,” she says. “They are very typey, pretty horses. They have a lot of elegance, and I like that in a halter horse. I can take a little less bulk for extreme pretty.”
