EC Question of the Week – What Discipline Would You Choose?

We recently asked our readers: If you had to switch disciplines or breeds, even for a day, what would you choose?

Dressage on a beautiful Friesian, a thrilling run on a Reiner with a flowing mane, or ?  The most popular answer was to compete on a cowhorse in various disciplines!  Check out the answers here:

Beth Mallett

Reined Cow Horse

Erin Fawcett

Show jumping. I’ve shown hunters but I could never consistently see my distances. Bigger and faster would have been fun but not when you can’t hit the right spot.

Becca Johnson

I would switch from the western pleasure all around to cutting or reining. Cow horses really seem to love their jobs!

Karry Kertesz

Growing up I have tried almost every discipline. English hunters/jumpers, hus, equ, and even side saddle and saddle seat. I’ve done combined driving and western events. But what I would love to do which I’ve never had the opportunity to try would be cutting! The way the horse is so focused and in tune to the cattle is amazing to watch!

Amy Alves

Andalusians in Spain.

Bri Stimson

From the pleasure world to cutting for sure!

Joselyn Leonhart

I’ve shown in WP, Horsemanship, HUS, eq., ran barrels, jumped, etc….But, Without a doubt I would choose thoroughbred racing, Oh, and Secretariat please!

Thank you to Kristin Spinning for the awesome cowhorse photos!
