Exclusive payouts ($20,000+) are in store for talented cutting horses sporting extra splashes of color, thanks to APHA’s new Chrome Cash program. Debuting at select National Cutting Horse Association aged events in 2020, Chrome Cash is designed to bring APHA rewards to where talented Paint cutters are already playing. Eligible horses can add the Chrome Cash jackpot as a “class within a class” of a show’s Open, Non-Pro and Amateur divisions.

As of press time, Chrome Cash is offered at the following NCHA aged-event shows for 2020:

The Bonanza Cutting, Belton, Texas, February 12–21
The Cattlemans Derby & Classic, Graham, Texas, March 2–8
Breeders Invitational, Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 9–23
Includes $2,000 added money sponsored by Oswoods Stallion Station
Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association, Las Vegas, Nevada, June 2020
El Rancho Futurity, Rancho Murieta, California, September 4–13
Includes $2,000 added money sponsored by Don Bell Properties
Brazos Bash, Weatherford, Texas, September 2020
Includes $2,000 added money sponsored by Color Me Smart
Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association, Las Vegas, October 2020

In addition to $2,000 added at select Chrome Cash events, the APHA World Championship Show’s limited-age challenge classes features $14,000 in added money for cutting horses. The 2020 APHA world championship and added-money challenge cutting events take place as part of the Youth World Championship Show June 22 – July 5, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. No World Show qualifying is required for challenge class participation.

APHA Manager of Business Development Sunny Bates says Chrome Cash was built to reward Paint Horses competing in performance events such as cutting while also encouraging registration of APHA-eligible horses and breeding of future flashy superstars.

“So many registered Paints are representing APHA in performance-horse competition, but there are countless APHA-eligible horses whose owners haven’t yet found a reason to register their Paints,” Sunny said. “With Chrome Cash, not registering your APHA-eligible horse means you’re leaving money on the table.”

Both Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred horses are eligible to compete in the Chrome Cash program—horses simply must be registered with APHA and then entered in a participating Chrome Cash event at select NCHA competitions.

Special thanks to 2020 Chrome Cash program sponsors Don Bell Properties, Oswood Stallion Station and Color Me Smart/Iconic Color.
