Learn how the NSBA Youth is pushing forward in 2020 to ‘do good in the neighborhood.’

Throughout 2020, NSBA Youth officers and directors continued to meet and stay active using teleconferencing and Zoom meetings. During this year that looked so different, the youth board focused on how they can continue to make a positive impact on their communities and fulfilling goal to ‘do good in the neighborhood.’

Youth of the Year

The NSBA Foundation sponsors an annual award developed to recognize volunteerism in our youth. If you know someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help others, then this award is designed for them. The 2020 recipient was Jacqueline Potwora.

NSBA Foundation Youth Art Contest

Submissions for the Youth Art Contest were collected and winning pieces were displayed at the NSBA World Championship Show.

Winning artists received checks for $50.00, certificates and prizes in recognition of their work. Proceeds from the art sales benefited the NSBA Foundation Champions Fund.

NSBA Youth Officers and Directors

At the NSBA World Championship Show the NSBA Youth held a socially-distant outdoor draw party and meeting for officer elections. NSBA congratulates incoming NSBA Youth President, Steve Wheat, from Ocala, Florida. NSBA would also like to thank Shelby Cochran for her continued leadership and enthusiasm throughout her term. NSBA Team Tournament

The Youth Team Tournament had a record number of participants, with more than 60 youth competing. The winning team was comprised of Madison Dolan, Emma DeJong, Victoria Coombs, and Isabella Buckley. Congratulations, ladies!

YEDA Scholarship Incentive Fund

The YEDA Scholarship Incentive Fund (SIF) is a program open to all YEDA student riders in the 4th–12th grades. YEDA riders earn scholarship dollars for points earned throughout their years of competition in YEDA. Scholarships are awarded to riders when they are seniors and are based on their lifetime points of all years they enrolled. Riders can begin to bank scholarship dollars as early as the 4th grade.
