Tonight the best maiden horses in the country competed in the Equine Chronicle Congress Masters 2-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle and 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure.

The Equine Chronicle Congress Masters will kick off at 7:00 pm this evening with 2-Year-Old Maiden Hunter Under Saddle to be followed by 2-Year-Old Maiden Western Pleasure. Rodney helped Kathy complete a seamless Western Riding pattern with fluid transitions and smooth quality of movement. Kathy has won Hunter Under Saddle Congress Championships in the past with other horses, but this is her first win with Rodney, and her first in a Western discipline, not counting previous Reserve Championships in Horsemanship.

“We sailed thought it. It felt really good. Also, I know his lopes are really pretty and fancy. I think he should’ve plussed almost everything!”

“I never practice the whole pattern. I kind of pick some obstacles to work on at home, but I try to save it. I don’t want them to be on autopilot. Going in there and showing is part of the fun.”

Last night was an exciting moment for Marilyn Masterson as she was named the unanimous Congress Champion in Select Western Pleasure aboard KM Weknowsheshot. “Mercedes,” a mare by the Masterson’s stallion, RL Best of Sudden, has had considerable success this year with trainers, Casey Willis and Blair Townsend, in the saddle. However, Marilyn had never shown the mare herself.
