Ron, a horseman from Georgetown, Texas, has been a longtime member of APHA—a Paint Horse owner since the 1980s and exhibitor since the ’90s, Ron has also served as an APHA national director since 2002. He was elected to the Executive Committee in 2009.

In conjunction with the prize money that will already be up for grabs during the competition year, AQHA members Rick and Lori Bucholz of Waterloo, Nebraska, have generously added a $2,500 bonus for American Quarter Horses competing in the Pre-Green Championship. To earn the added bonus, the horse must be an American Quarter Horse and earn the combined top score from rounds 1 and 2.

To be considered for a scholarship, students must be a member of the AjPHA or APHA, must pass a college entrance examination, provide three letters of reference and submit an essay explaining their educational plans. Once they have been granted a scholarship, they must maintain a “B” or better grade-point average to be eligible for scholarship renewal.
