The addition of multiple new classes dramatically increased the number of points earned each year. As nominations have since decreased, less money is added to the fund. However, a large number of horses continue to show and earn even more points. The result is a decline in point value.

The Banixx Pinto of the Month for April is Royal Oaks Kid Rock, owned by Jenny La Grange of Oviedo, Florida. Royal Oaks Kid Rock, better known as Kid, is a miniature gelding. La Grange said his personality is like the Energizer Bunny.

The Merle Wood Humanitarian Award is presented each year to an individual whose outstanding voluntary service has been marked by actions or deeds that have enabled young people to experience positive opportunities and activities involving the American Quarter Horse.

Performance halter and solid Paint-bred ranch events make their debut in 2017. The halter classes require full qualification, but the solid ranch classes only require two shows with four judges to qualify in 2017, due to the announcement timeline.

• Have a current PtHA® membership if you are showing or if you own a horse that is entering a class. Download a membership form here.
• Is your Pinto registered? All Pintos entering a class must be PtHA registered. Download a registration form here.
• Make sure to send a current National Snaffle Bit Association card if you are entering a dual approved NSBA class.
• Make sure to have a current PtHA® Novice Card if you are entering a Novice Class.

Don’t forget these key Youth World Show eligibility rules go into effect this year:
– All horses must be owned or leased by the Youth exhibitor or related family per Rule YP-015 by May 15 to be eligible to compete at the Youth World Show.
– In addition, any horse shown at the Youth World Show will not be eligible to show at the APHA Open/Amateur World Show (in the same year) by the immediate previous owner/lessee as described in AM-020 and YP-015.

If you own a splashy solid Paint, you know the frustration: your horse has all the chrome promised by his colorful lineage, but not quite in the right places—maybe his bald face is just an inch shy of crossing behind his eye or his high stocking doesn’t reach far enough above the center of his hock. Despite having all the trappings of a Paint to the casual observer, your horse is denoted a solid Paint-bred.

The nation’s top 12 teams will vie for the NCEA Championship, set to take place April 13-15 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.
