Color Breed Congress Coming to Oklahoma, Nov. 3-11

The Color Breed Congress encompasses three separate breed shows into one. The participating breeds include: the Pinto Horse Association, Palomino Horse Breeders of America and the Appaloosa Horse Club. In addition to specific breed classes, exhibitors will get the chance to compete against one another in the Champion of Champion classes. These classes are designed for winners of certain youth, amateur, and open classes to compete against one another for the true color champion in their respective breed and category.

AQHA Crowns Select All-Around Amateur at 2017 Adequan World Show

The Select all-around amateur is Jim Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bound showed the American Quarter Horse Bound To Cash Chex, owned by Jax Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The 2007 palomino mare, by Nu Chex To Cash and out of SF Kings Firstlady, was bred by Hilldale Farm of Brashear, Texas. Bound and Bound To Cash Chex earned 45 points. They earned the world champion title in tie-down roping; placed third in breakaway and ranch riding; fifth in stake race; and were finalists in heeling. The duo also won the Select all-around amateur title in 2016.

Butch Morgan of Elbert, Colorado, and SF Check Me Out were named the 2017 Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show at AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan). The award is presented to the exhibitor and horse with the highest combined age competing at the Adequan® Select World. The Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show award recognizes not only the exhibitors, but their equine partners. AQHA has proudly teamed with AQHA Corporate Partner Nutrena on this award since 2012.

Tie-Down Roping

Effective January 1, 2018, youth and amateur exhibitors will incur a three-point penalty if they bring the calf over backwards with the calf landing on its back or head with all four feet in the air. Open exhibitors will incur a disqualification (no score) if the calf is brought over backwards with the calf landing on its back or head with all four feet in the air.
