The AQHA convention isn’t just about rule-making. The Association is also offering a full day of education for all convention attendees on March 8. The Equine Industry Business Workshop is 8 a.m. to Noon and the Town Hall Meeting kicks off at 1 p.m.

The SOQHA Challenge has new dates and a new location. Now located in Springfield, OH, this show is looking amazing. It’s sold out and will award roughly $10,000 in Youth Scholarship awards. There will also be awards in the traditional amateur, L1 amateur, Select & Open divisions. Trainers – if you have any extra stalls, please let Janet know at 937-416-0294. The 2019 NSBA World Show is scheduled to take place August 11-18 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the AQHA Show Your Colors event kicking off the show August 9-11. Click here to view a schedule.

Working with Hall of Fame trainer, Denny Hassett, Sherri and Skipper entered the American Junior Quarter Horse Association World Championship show and won Western Riding class and placed 6th in Trail. They went on to win Western Riding at the Congress that year.

The Auburn Tigers hold the No. 1 spot in the first coach’s poll of the spring season.  Auburn went 2-0 on the road last week against ranked opponents. Texas A&M steps up to the No. 2 position after a win against now No. 3 SMU.  South Carolina takes the No. 4 spot this week while Baylor holds at No. 5.

The stage is set for a spring showdown, and all APHA exhibitors are invited to attend! The APHA Eastern National Championship takes place March 22–24 at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia, and now is the time to make your entries: the Premium Book and entry forms are now available.

Prior to NWSS, individuals ages 14-21 from Colorado and Wyoming were encouraged to apply for the inaugural program. On January 12, 2019, ten selected youth were paired with industry professionals who acted as their “coach” or “mentor” for the day. Donned in matching shirts, the selected youth received one-on-one practice time with their coach, rotating through area to practice various skills. Then the youth competed against each other for scholarship money provided by the National Western Scholarship Trust. They were asked to complete a ranch trail pattern, a ranch riding pattern, a modified reining pattern then they chose to box, rope or fence a cow.
