Camille Kennedy Wins First Golden Globe in 13 and Under Trail at AQHA World

Camille Kennedy won her first golden globe today at the AQHA Youth World show with her trusty partner, The Perfect Kryme, aka “Clyde.” And that’s not all. This pair also won L2 Trail earlier in the show.

Reserve was KM Genuinely Best and Emma Gore. Third was Hot Ovations and Natalie Hudson. Fourth was Suddens Best Asset and Trinity Eserjose. Fifth was Good Luck Charley and Lauren Deeds.

Camille and Clyde have been a team for two years now. They compete under the guidance of Robin and Jenny Frid. Camille is 13, so this is her last year in this division. Despite her youth, Camille says she never gets nervous before she competes. That might be because she’s been showing Appaloosas and now Quarter Horses for the past seven years.

“I don’t get nervous. Not at all. My trainers just tell me to go in and show and that they trust me. They said everything was important in this pattern, but the main thing was the trot serpentine. I needed to remember to use my legs so he would use the correct lead leg. When I stopped in the box, it was awesome and amazing. Also, I really love my gate. That was definitely one of the best parts.”

“Clyde is super goofy, and he’s really trusting, and I love him so much.”

In addition to their two wins at the show, this pair was Reserve in Performance Halter Geldings Level 2 and 3, fourth in Western Riding L2, fourth in Western Riding L3, and third in 13 and Under Equitation. Of all her success in Western classes, Camille’s favorite is still Equitation.

“Equitation is my favorite, because it’s very challenging, and I like the style of it.”

Camille not only competes with her Quarter Horse, but she also shows Appaloosas. Sadly, since both Youth World Championships were held at the same time this year, she had to choose which to attend.

Before she heads off to give Clyde his congratulatory apple, she would like to give thanks. “Thank you to my family and my trainers and everyone who supported me, and Clyde.”
