Amateur Champion of Champions- Alluring Intention/Sarah Headley

The 2014 Breeders Halter Futurity and National Halter Championship is now underway with Day 3 of the competition in Des Moines, Iowa. Thus far, the class numbers have been big, the purses have been huge, and the talent has been quite impressive.

On the schedule for today, Friday, September 12th, are amateur halter classes including the following.

  • Amateur Weanling Colts and Geldings – sponsored by Gene Butler
  • Owner Breeder Exhibitor Buckle – sponsored by Mitchell’s Show Horses
  • Amateur Weanling Fillies – sponsored by Belle Plain Western Exchange
  • Owner Breeder Exhibitor Buckle – sponsored by Brees Ranch LLC
  • Amateur Yearling Stallions – sponsored by Weatherford Equine Medical Center
  • Amateur Yearling Mares – sponsored by Adams Farm
  • Amateur Yearling Geldings – sponsored by Steve and Lorraine Wallinger
  • Amateur Two Year Old Stallions – sponsored by Equine Aqua Spa & Therapy
  • Amateur Two Year Old Mares – sponsored by Robin Robinett and Larry Morse
  • Amateur Two Year Old Geldings – sponsored by Reata Ranch
  • Youth Mares – sponsored by Monte Horn Show Horses

But before we dive into a new day of competition, let’s recap some of the action that has taken place thus far. Tim Finkenbinder was at the lead of BPF Tella Kid for Richard and Debra Donnelly to claim a win in the Two-Year-Old Geldings class. Coming in second was Floyd Danley with Rainy Day Kisses for Tommy and Judy Ford. This was also the highest placing Color Horse team in the class. Josey Morford with Im Cooler N You were awarded for being the highest placing youth competitor in the class.

The Two-Year-Old Mares class saw Tom Robertson at the lead of Made Of Dreams for Steven Jensen. Coming in second was Ross Roark with BPF Over The Top for Bushy Park Farm. The highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor was Holly Moon with Married For The Money. Floyd Danley once again led the highest placing color horse, this time it was Shez Passionate, for Tom and Judy Ford.

Ross Roark and Bushy Park Farm found themselves at the top once again, this time in the Two-Year-Old Stallions with IEM The One. The second place team was Tim Finkenbinder with Ima Safe Bet for John Peck. The highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor was Ellen Jost with The Coolest Classic. The highest placing color horse team was Jason Smith with Exact for Jim and Georgia Snow.

Jr. Weanling Fillies was an impressive class with the winner being named as Ross Roark with Sinceerly for Josh Weakly. Coming in second was Joy Stehney with So Worth It. Gary Werner and Acool Girl Around took the highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor spot, while Trisha Shorten-Armstrong led Pretty Sweet Sirprize to the highest placing color horse title for Paula Motley. Hance Sommerer and Embracingly were rewarded for being the highest placing youth team in the class.

JT Mitchell led Get Me Some of That to a win in Jr. Weanling Colts and Geldings for Kelli Butler. The second place team was Vanessa Birney with Radiant Equinox, also the highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor. The highest placing color horse team was Dewey Smith with PF Chromed for Chester Prince. Michael Clutter was the highest placing youth competitor in the class with The Crusade.

Kathy Smallwood was at the lead of Silk Pajamaz for she and husband Lonn Smallwood, which meant this was also the highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor team in Sr. Weanling Fillies. Coming in second was Ted Turner with Entrigue for Thomas and Mimsi Coon. The highest placing color horse team was Dave Breitberg with I Gotta Falling Star. Will Niebrugge and Shes Somethin Sexy captured the highest placing youth spot.

Tom Robertson and SS Rampage won the Yearling Geldings class for owner Stephen Wayne Shoultz. Chester Prince was the proud owner of the second place horse, PF Chrom Rimz, led by Dewey Smith. Cara Loos and CL Unruly were named the highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor team, and Olin Parker led Uncle Si to the the highest placing color horse position for Jason and Casey Veach.

A very tough Yearling Mares class was won by Jason Smith with Oh No She Didn’t for Jeffrey and Joy Stehney. Coming in second was Tom Robertson with Ladies N Lace for Stephen Wayne Shoultz. The highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor was Susan Melbourn with Sheza QTE. Floyd Danley once again led FF Remembrance to the highest color horse spot for Tommy and Judy Ford.

The Yearling Stallions class was won by Ross Roark with Fearles Fortune for Clark Rassi. Coming in second was Gene Parker with Kid Shine for Jerrid Nightingale. The highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor team was Johnny Chattin with Very Cool Boy; this pair was also the highest placing color horse team.

Finally, Ross Roark and Josh Weakly claimed another win, this time with BPF The Midas Touch in Sr. Weanling Colts and Geldings. The second place team was Ted Turner with Legacee for Tammy Raak. Kelly Shaw and Ciruc took the highest placing owner/breeder/exhibitor spot. Douglas Wermerskirchen led Ineffable to the highest placing color horse spot, and Tommy Francois with CL Im So Awesome were the highest placing youth team.
