Maybe you’ve procrastinated a little. Maybe you weren’t quite sure you were ready to compete. Maybe the stars just happened to align in your favor. Whatever your reason, it’s not too late to enter the AjPHA Youth World Championship and NSBA Color of Money Shows, June 23–July 5 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

This year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Youth World Show features 97 classes just for Youth—you’ll definitely find a place to shine. Entries are accepted until 5 p.m. the day before a class takes place—complete the online YWS Entry Form, call (817) 222-8455 or come by the show office June 23-July 4.

We’ve got SIX great reasons to grab your Paint Horse and get entered:

1. No Qualifying Required

Youth and their horses are not required to qualify to attend the Youth World Championship Show! This is you’re chance to shine and prove your Paint is the best of the best at the pinnacle of Paint Horse shows.

2. 90% Payback at the Color of Money

The NSBA Color of Money show is an all-color-breed competition and takes place in conjunction with the Youth World Show, June 23-26. Paints, Appaloosas, Ponies of the Americas, buckskins, palominos and pintos will compete in more than 50 classes offered in the Youth, Amateur and Open divisions. Best of all, the classes feature a 90 percent payback to exhibitors—bring the whole family, get a great World Show warm-up and earn some cash for a job well done! Check out NSBA Color of Money Show details on our website.

3. New Class

Ranch Horse Pleasure is sweeping the nation as a popular new addition to APHA horse shows, and we’ve added it to the Youth World Show lineup. Our newest world championship class reflects the versatility, attitude and movement of a working ranch horse—exhibitors navigate their horses through a pattern showcasing various gaits, lead changes, spins, stops and backs. It takes place June 29, immediately following the barrel racing and stake race classes that afternoon. Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 28, and entries cannot enter any other Western pleasure events at the Youth World Show.

4. New Power Performance High-Point Award

Youth who show in speed, cattle and reining have a whole new reason to join in the World Show fun: the Power Performance High-Point Award. The exhibitor who accumulates the most points in cattle classes, goat tying, barrel racing, pole bending, stake race, ranch horse pleasure and reining will win a custom trophy saddle sponsored by Paint Performance Horse Super Stakes and a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Permian Basin Paint Horse Club. The Reserve Power Performance High-Point winner will be awarded a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Permian Basin Paint Horse Club.

 5. More Scholarships

We’ve got scholarships galore at the Youth World Show—more than $40,000 is up for grabs in a variety of events.

  • $1,000 each to the All-Around Youth 14-18, Youth 13 & Under and Novice Youth winners
  • $500 each to the Power Performance High-Point and Reserve High-Point winners
  • Up to $36,000 awarded in 10 Youth halter classes, with scholarships paid through sixth place
  • $500 for the Superior Sportsmanship winner
  • $500 each to the Junior and Senior High-Point Individuals in the APHA/ApHC Horse Judging Contest
  • $500 to a randomly selected Youth Boot Camp participant

6. More Money

We know Paint Horses make awesome timed-event mounts, thanks to their athleticism, versatility and great minds. The popular Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program is coming to the Youth World Show for the first time, so load up your barrel horses and head for Cowtown. A $1,000 side pot will be paid out to top PBRIP-enrolled exhibitors who compete aboard their Paints in the Hopes & Dreams Barrel Racing Sweepstakes on June 28. Complete the PBRIP Enrollment Form to become eligible for this special payout.

Our world championship timed events (barrel racing, pole bending and roping) are also jackpotted—nominate your Paint Horse for added money by completing the YWS Timed Event Jackpot Entry Form.

The Youth Versatility Challenge also features $1,200 in added money. Exhibitors will compete in back-to-back classes: hunter under saddle, Western pleasure, horsemanship and barrel racing. The horse-and-rider team who earns the most points across the four events wins.
