If you’re attending the 2017 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show August 4-12 in Oklahoma City, bring some canned food. The American Quarter Horse Youth Association Community Service and Youth World Show committees, along with the AQHYA Board of Directors, have partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to host a food drive during the show.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to give back at this year’s Ford Youth World,” said Ty Cornelius, AQHYA second vice president, “It is important to us because we recognize that those of us who compete at the Ford Youth World are privileged, and we want to reach out to other kids who may be less fortunate.”

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma distributes enough food for more than 126,000 meals each week, almost half of which are for children. Ford Youth World exhibitors are asked to donate canned goods, packaged nonperishables, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and paper goods. No homemade, glass or damaged goods will be accepted.

The food drive will also serve as a contest among regions to see which region can donate the largest amount of items during the show. The winning region will earn bragging rights along with a certificate and self-pride award from the AQHYA Board of Directors.

The collection area and donation bins can be found outside of the Show Office at the Ford Youth World August 4-12 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
