The American Quarter Horse Association recognizes hardworking individuals and their American Quarter Horses at the end of each year through the Association’s high-point awards.

AQHA annually recognizes the top point earners in each division of every AQHA event. Horses are recognized in the open division, junior and senior; youth and amateurs competing with any one horse are recognized in their respective divisions. The divisions are further broken down into Rookie, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.

“Earning an AQHA high-point award is evidence of the year-long commitment to excellence in the show pen from both horse and rider,” said Justin Billings, AQHA chief show officer. “To earn an AQHA high-point title is no easy feat. Congratulations to all on this tremendous accomplishment!”

To view the list of 2019 year-end leaders, simply go to www.aqha.com/show-leaders.

In addition to the leaders in each class, AQHA also named the 2019 year-end all-around award winners. New this year, AQHA is recognizing the Markel Insurance All-Around Youth 13-&-Under and Markel Insurance All-Around Youth 14-18 in the youth division, the AQHA All-Around Select Amateur and AQHA All-Around Amateur in the amateur division, along with the AQHA All-Around Junior Horse and Senior Horse awards in the open division.

“We are honored to recognize the 13-&-Under and Select all-around winners for the first time this year,” said Billings. “We look forward to featuring the following seven winners in The American Quarter Horse Journal later this year.”

  • Markel Insurance All-Around Youth 13-&-Under: Lazy Lopin Guy and Sydney Sargent of Paris, Kentucky
  • Markel Insurance All-Around 14-18: Zips Bossy Chip and Ellexxah Ireland Maxwell of West Mansfield, Ohio
  • AQHA All-Around Select Amateur: Investin A Goodbar and Scott Allen Reinartz of Crossroads, Texas
  • AQHA All-Around Amateur: Solo Invested and Tony Anderman of Saint Cloud, Minnesota
  • AQHA All-Around Junior Horse: Whose Your Bay Bae owned by Kelly M. Birkenholtz of Newton, Iowa
  • AQHA All-Around Senior Horse: Cruize owned by Stephanie Janis of Groton, Massachusetts
  • AQHA Leading Exhibitor: Jennifer Louise Paul of New Albany, Ohio

High-point winners by class will be featured on AQHA.com later this year.

The 2019 open, amateur, Select and Equestrians With Disabilities year-end high-point winners will be recognized at the AQHA Awards Celebration, which coincides with the 2020 AQHA World Championship Show in November at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. More details will be available at www.aqha.com/awards-celebration as they are available.

Level 3 youth high-point winners will be recognized at the Parade of Teams at the 2020 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show in August. Information about the Parade of Teams will be shared directly with the youth high-point winners via email.

The awards presentations during the Ford Youth World and AQHA World Show will be held pending local, state and government mandates related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. AQHA will continue to monitor the status of the pandemic and the potential effects on AQHA events. The Association’s priority is the health and welfare of AQHA members. AQHA will continue to share updates on AQHA.com as the situation evolves.
