It’s been a busy afternoon at the 2015 AQHA World Championship Show and there are several big winners to congratulate. In a large Amateur Performance Halter Geldings class of 29 entries, Gerald Fleisner led Mytesly to a big win. This pair was also named the Level 1 Champions. The Reserve Champion in L3 was Katie Grossnickle with Always The Best Man. Third place was Dan Fox with Efabulous. Fourth place was Sidney Miller with Upgrade To Escalade. Fifth place was Meaghan Whelan with My Dream Remembered.

The Reserve Champion in Level 2 was Meaghan Whelan. Third place was Lisa Mazurka with Invested In Cowboys. Fourth place was Sabrina Hayes with Mayhem Like Me. Fifth was Ruth Robinson with Ain’t I Awilly.

From what we’ve been told, Gerald grants very few interviews, so we felt very lucky to have the opportunity to speak with him today. Gerald was at the lead of Mytesly, aka “Sly,” to win their first World Champion title as a team today in Amateur Performance Halter Geldings. Last week, Ted Turner led Sly to win the horse’s first ever World Champion title in Open Performance Halter Geldings.

Miranda Peck

“We’ve had him since he was a baby,” Gerald says. “We bought him from Sally Sullivan and showed him here as a baby. Then, Nancy Dyer was second here with him, and she had him for a while. Long story short, he made the circle, and we bought him back.”

“Sly,” a sorrel gelding by My Te Cool Mister and out of Last Pleazin Bymr, is fit and conditioned by Kathi Lawrence of 88 Bar Ranch. “When Kathy saw him, she said nothing could beat him in Performance Geldings,” Gerald says. “Paulo, who works for us, rode him and put his performance points on him in Barrel and Poles. He can run like a rabbit! Paulo broke him out, and he rides him in the pond.”

Sly has had quite the year winning both the open and amateur divisions at the All American Quarter Horse Congress and at the NSBA World Show. “So far, he’s got a pretty good record,” Gerald says.

The World Champion in Amateur Yearling Fillies was Kathleen Williams with Shangri La. The Reserve Champion was Thomas Coon with Entrigue. Third place was Erin Bradshaw with Lalicious. Fourth was Patricia Ellsworth with Be A Diva. Fifth was Jeff Habighorst with She’s Classyfied. The L2 champion was Erin Bradshaw and the Reserve Champion was Patricia Ellsworth. Third place was Richard Peden with She’s Very Cool. Fourth was Gerald Fleisner with Gotta Lot of Secrets. Fifth was Gretta Graceland with I Luv Bein Ecredible.

Miranda Peck was at the lead of Ima Safe Bet to win Amateur 3-Year-Old Stallions. The Reserve Champion was Mary Mancin with Calilujah. Third was Larry Roberts with Remarkable. Fourth was Beth Dunlap with Steal The Appeal. In the Level 2, Mary Mancin was the champion and Beth Dunlap was the Reserve Champion.

Theodore Lincoln led his black gelding, Coos Me In The Dark, to win Amateur 2-Year-Old Geldings. The Reserve Champion was Vern Habighorst with SS Rampage. Third place was Jeff Habighorst with Coolsified Secret. Fourth place was Maggie Griffin with He’s That Cool. Fifth was Sherri Baker with BPF Telatommy. Theodore Lincoln was also the L2 champion and Maggie Griffin was the Reserve Champion. Third place was Thomas Coon with Mattlock. Fourth place was Sherri Baker with BPF Telatommy. Fifth place was Kim Fullwood with Who’s Dating Who.

In Amateur Aged Stallions, Steve Jensen led his homebred stallion, Ecredible, to a win. Reserve was Gary Louks with Lookinat The Sierras. Third place was Angie Watts Schmeck with Inspirado. Fourth was Deanna Gordon with Tesignatee.

Steve Jensen

Steve Jensen with Ecredible

Steve was at the lead of his five-year-old sorrel stallion by Mr Elusive and out of Lindy Little Secret today for the win. Not only is “Eli” homebred, the Jensen family also raised his mother.

“He’s homebred and raised,” Steve says. “When he was born, he came out square-made, kind of the opposite of what I thought a Mr. E would look like, but shortly that changed and he became exactly what he is today. We knew when he hit the ground and stood up. He was the baby that took your breath away, and he still does.”

Ted Turner will show Eli in the open division on Thursday. Last year, Steve led a baby colt by Eli, Ecredible Kid, to be named the Reserve World Champion and WCHA World Champion. This year, he plans to lead another young foal by the stallion. “The baby I’m showing by him this year looks just like him. They’re twins.”
