APHA Releases New 2023 World Show Intermediate Exhibitor Division Eligibility

By Delores Kuhlwein and Lyn Fick

Everyone is talking about the new Intermediate Exhibitor Division Eligibility just published by the American Paint Horse Association for the upcoming APHA World Championship Show.

An Intermediate World and Reserve World Championship will now also be awarded to exhibitors who have not placed in the Top 2 at the APHA or AQHA World Shows in the past 5 years (2018-2022)!

Special awards will be given to the Top 5 Intermediate Exhibitors, including Gist Silversmiths buckles!

“It was one of the WS Advisory Committees incentives and recommendations this year and we are so proud it got approved!” says Lyn Fick, Chair of the World Show Advisory Committee.  “We really want to get the word out to everyone about the program.”

Eligibility:

Performance Classes – An Intermediate Exhibitor is an exhibitor who has not:

♦ Placed in the Top 2 in the past 5 years (2018-2022) at the APHA and/or AQHA World Shows in the particular class (all divisions) in which they are competing.

  • Includes all World Championship, Challenge and Sweepstakes classes only. Excluding Intermediate division, Limited division and Walk-Trot (except when competing in a Walk-Trot class).
  • For Intermediate Division in Walk-Trot classes, previous Walk-Trot placings do apply.
  • For Longe Line, includes both Western and Hunter divisions.

♦ Must be eligible for corresponding NSBA Limited Division.

♦ Intermediate Exhibitor status is based on an exhibitor’s combined World Show record, not on the number of points he/she has accumulated.

Awards: Gist buckles will be presented to Champion and Reserve Champion. Special awards will be presented to the top five. Recipients will be named Intermediate World Show Champion and Intermediate World Show Reserve Champion. Exhibitors must place in the top 15 final placings in the class to be eligible.
