The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum Opens Wagonhound Paddock to Amarillo Community
The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum officially opens the Wagonhound Paddock during Family Fun Day.

The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum officially opened the new Wagonhound Paddock to the Amarillo community during Family Fun Day on July 11.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting with recognition from the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce was held to open the paddock, with many American Quarter Horse Association executives and Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley in attendance.
“This is a recognition and a recommitment to our roots,” Mayor Stanley said. “Amarillo was founded on cowboy culture and on horseback. We’re thankful for our friendship with the American Quarter Horse Association and what they do for our community.”
The Wagonhound Paddock is a natural outdoor space designed for visitors to relax, gather and learn in an environment that feels true to the horse and true to the Panhandle. It gives us another way to welcome people into the story of the American Quarter Horse whether they are lifelong horsemen, new to the breed or simply families looking for a great day together in Amarillo.
“We want the Museum to be a place that belongs to the people who love this horse, this city and this way of life,” AQHA Chief Executive Officer Dave Dellin said. “I cannot tell you how proud we are to call Amarillo home. This city has played an important role in AQHA’s story, and we are grateful for the support and partnership we continue to receive from this community.”
The Museum is currently undergoing renovations scheduled to be completed in 2030 while remaining fully functional.
