Year-end banquets abounded this month, celebrating the hard work and success of horsemen across the U.S., and joining that list was the 2025 Year-end Awards Banquet for the Arizona Quarter Horse Association and the Arizona Reined Cow Horse Association on February 7, 2026.
The welcoming atmosphere and smoothly running shows produced by both associations were emulated in a first-class, well-organized banquet with Western flair, treating invitees to an indulgent evening at Avila Ranch in Scottsdale.
At much more than an awards ceremony, guests arrived to find volunteers helping them park, beautiful tables with gas firepits, a catered barbeque dinner, a no-cost bar, plenty of games such as pinball machines for the youth, and smiles all around. Not only that, but the awards presentation was efficient and filled with warmth, and AzQHA photographer Debra Hrynyk was on hand to capture the abudance of special moments.
The recurring theme of supporting youth included an impressive silent auction of several tables of unique and desirable items, in addition to the inaugural presentation of the AzQHA $10,000 Youth Scholarship Award, in honor of Bob Avila, and awarded to Taylor Mack. According to AzQHA, “This $10,000 scholarship aims to support young people who exhibit the same dedication to the equine world that Bob Avila demonstrated throughout his career. Through this scholarship, we strive to empower future leaders and preserve the legacy of excellence in horsemanship, leadership, and community service.”
