The APHA Board of Directors has extended a pause in a set of rules for 2021, which includes the temporary suspension of a rule that restricts the number times an exhibitor can use a judge in Top 20 award calculations.
Continue reading …A lifelong horse lover, Emma got her first horse at 10 years old–a Paint named Zip It Easy. “Woody” allowed her to grow as a young horsewoman while teaching her the value of persistence, patience and hard work. After a few more horses and lots of riding lessons throughout the years, Emma got her current horse, This Is Why Im Here (QH). Emma considers “Jack” to be her once-in-a-lifetime horse. Her favorite event to show Jack in is the Western Riding, and the pair has been very successful in the AQHA show ring.

Continue reading …I.J. showed others what it meant to truly be a life-long horseman. He was still caring for and breeding Paint Horses on his 60-acre property well into his nineties. He is listed as the founder of the South Dakota Paint Horse Club, earned the APHA Distinguished Service Award in 1992, bred more than 200 Paint Horses and still acted as a state director for South Dakota.
Continue reading …She was once quoted as saying, “I know there’s money in horses, because I put it there!” Cecilia made history in 1999 when she harvested an egg from her beloved mare, Widow Rider, after its passing and then had the egg fertilized with a deceased sire to become a viable foal. This was a first in history.
Continue reading …Cecilia’s horse showing days began alongside her father, and following his death, she turned to actively showing AQHA and futurity horses, earning AQHA world championships, NSBA futurity championships, Honor Roll and NSBA Horse of the Year honors with such horses as Invitation To Flash, Do Ya Think Im Flashy, Slip Slyden Away and Lotto Flash. In addition to their many awards, horses registered in Cecilia’s name have won nearly $90,000 in NSBA earnings.

The measure passed the U.S. House in July of 2020 but failed to be taken up for a vote in the U.S. Senate.
