An Illinois woman found guilty of starving four horses almost to death has been sentenced to 180 days in jail, 2 1/2 years of probation, during which she can have no contact with animals, assessed a $500 fine, and must undergo psychiatric therapy.

One of the main events of the Futurity is scheduled for Saturday afternoon with the two Western Pleasure Super Sires classes: 3-Year-Old Open Non Pro Western Pleasure and 3-Year-Old Limited Non-Pro Western Pleasure. In order to participate in this prestigious class, horses must have been sired by one of the Western Pleasure Super Sires.

Jordan Larson (Whitesboro, Texas, $2,044,508 NRHA LTE) quickly took the lead in the NRHA Level 4 Open Derby first section of the first go-round with a smoldering 224.5 aboard Steppin On Sparks (Jacs Electric Spark x Mahoganys First Step). Steppin On Sparks is a 2009 stallion with $83,553 NRHA LTE, is owned by HDC Quarter Horses and was nominated by Cinder Lakes Ranch.
