2013 NRHA Futurity Update: Non-Pro Go-Round Leaders on First Day of Competition

NRHA press release by Christa Morris – Oklahoma City, Okla. – December 2, 2013 – The $260,000-added National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Cinch Non Pro Futurity entered the Jim Norick Coliseum Arena at Oklahoma State Fair Park yesterday with the first section of the go-round. More than 100 non pro riders took to the arena yesterday at the 2013 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show that runs until December 7 at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

Early in the day, Lisa Bissell (Ft. Valley, Ga.) and Starlights Lil Belle (Bueno Starlight x Beaus Liberty Belle) set the standard with a 217.5 to lead the level 4 non pro and level 3 non pro divisions. Jamie Bissell owns the gelding that has already earned more than $4,000 this year.

Two scores of 216 stand in the second place position in both the level 4 non pro and level 3 non pro divisions:

Leading the level 2 non pro division is Stoney Russell (Longview, Texas) and his Gotta Get Er Done with a 214.5. The son of Spooks Gotta Gun and Zans Hickory Girl has earned more than $6,000 this year.

Just one-half point behind were two entries marking a 214 to tie for the second place position in the level 2 non pro division: Katie Forest (Valley View, Texas) with Frank Forest’s Jacquis Banjo (Banjo Whiz x Musk Be Bueno) and Julia Gaupmann (Euchenau, Austria) riding her Tinseltownsmokingun (Gunner x Miss Tinseltown). Gaupmann and her stallion lead the level 1 non pro division.

With a 213.5, Maggie Gratny (Aubrey, Texas) and Wallywood (Walla Walla Whiz x Custom Mahogany) landed in the second place spot in the level 1 division for owner Mark Gratny.
