Will you accept this rose?

By: Brittany Bevis

Ah, the season of looove. For those of you who haven’t been keeping an eye on the calendar, Valentine’s Day is this Sunday, which means it’s time to bring on the red roses, break out the chocolate truffles, and prepare sweet sentiments for your loved one.

But, what if you find yourself without a romantic partner this Valentine’s Day? While it’s perfectly normal to be couple-less, some choose this most romantic of all holidays to begin the search for their better half. However, with early mornings spent cleaning stalls and feeding horses, late nights spent driving to horse shows, and many a weekend devoted to practice, equestrians can have difficulties in the dating department. What’s a horse-loving girl or guy to do?

The Statistic Brain Research Institute compiled interesting statistics for 2015. The total number of single people in the US is 54,250,000.  The number of people who have tried online dating is 49,250,000. Furthermore, the percentage of marriages in the last year where couples met online was 17%. The percentage of current committed relationships that began online is 20%. So, it stands to reason that the worldwide web might be a good option for finding a potential match.

Dig a little deeper into the numbers and you’ll discover that the percentage of people who say common interests are the most important factor when selecting a partner is 49%. Hint: knowing whether your date is allergic to horse hair might be something good to know right off the bat…

Tinder just doesn’t seem like the right Match for you? We’ve done a bit of research and there are several online dating sites that cater to the equestrian sector.

* The Equine Chronicle does not endorse any of the following sites. This is just a review of the most popular sites available to equestrians.

1#1EquestrianCupid.com

“EquestrianCupid is an exclusive community for cowboys, cowgirls, and equestrian singles to meet horseback riding enthusiasts, discover uncharted trails, pursue the country lifestyle, and locate the best riding areas. Don’t live in the country or own a horse? No problem. Main criteria is having down to earth country values and a desire to meet other like-minded folks.”

2#2EquestrianSingles.com

“From the city to the country… for people who love horses! The original Equestrian Singles, established in 2001, is critically acclaimed as the best website for horse enthusiasts. Increase your circle of friends, locate the best areas to ride, or find that special someone. Visit our chat rooms to instantly connect with others.”

3#3FarmersOnly.com

“FarmersOnly.com launched back in 2005 and quickly became THE place for farmers and ranchers to meet like-minded people. In the last 9 years, membership went from 2,000 to well over 2 million members! Despite the name, FarmersOnly isn’t limited to only farmers. The rapid growth is also coming from just good old fashioned, down-to-earth people who live in small towns and rural areas.”

4#4- WesternMatch.com

“Western Match.com is an online dating service specifically geared towards matching single cowboys, cowgirls, ranchers, farmers, horse lovers, and country folk. Our service is a great way to increase your circle of friends, meet riding buddies, dance partners, find a long term relationship, or marriage partner. Did you know that WM launched it’s first online dating service in 2002? It’s hard to believe it’s been 13 years. We are proud to be a family owned independent operation based out of Arizona.”

6#5- EquestrianDatingSite.com

“We believe the future of online dating lies in sites being tailored to particular interests, hobbies, or clearly specified member needs (see niche marketing) but this can only be truly successful if managed via a large worldwide group (network) of sites like ourselves, dedicated to working to the same objectives and sharing the same growing client database.”

7#6DateACowboy.com

“Wanna date a cowboy? These manly men are now closer to you than ever, thanks to modern communications! This inventive and high-quality website caters to your specific dating needs and was established to help you find your cowboy!”
