Because every horse is unique, we offer the Perfect Prep Calming System that may adjusted depending upon the amount of support your horse requires. By combining long acting and short acting formulas, you can manage your horse’s calming support and know the horse you’ll have each and every ride.
Where to Begin
For horses who are overreactive during training at home:
Perfect Prep Training Day is ideal for horses who need daily calming support. Fed morning and/or night depending upon your horse’s needs, Training Day supports stable blood sugar levels, relaxed muscles, a slower heart rate, and diminished reactivity. Training Day is a great formula to begin with, as you can gauge your horse’s response and build upon the effects when needed.
For an extra boost of calmness at an event:
Long acting Perfect Prep Gold increases focus in horses for up to 18 hours and may be administered by feeding 1/2 syringe the night before and 1/2 syringe the morning of performance. Gold increases calming when used alone and even greater when stacked with Training Day.
When you require calming support on short notice:
Perfect Prep Supreme and Extreme are quick acting calming pastes that may be administered 90 minutes prior to performance. When your performance is approaching and you have more horse than desired, administer 1 full syringe. The effects of Supreme and Extreme are even greater when used following Training Day and Gold. (Supreme and Extreme are similar, but Supreme contains an extra boost of B vitamins that increase the calming effects.)
For horses who require pre-event calming, soundness and gastric support:
We suggest switching from Training Day to Perfect Prep Sane & Sound Pellets two – three days prior to your event. In addition to long acting calming ingredients, Sane & Sound contains soundness support and gastric buffers to protect the stomach lining. This combination of support creates a visible sense of calmness and well-being in your horse. We suggest maintaining your horse on Sane & Sound pellets throughout your event and switching back to Training Day upon returning home.
Additionally, Perfect Prep Sane & Sound Paste is a targeted formula that contains the same calming, soundness and gastric support as the pelleted formula, plus a boost of Amino Propanoic Acid for increased calming. We recommend feeding two syringes four+ hours prior to performance time. (Alternatively you may feed one syringe the night before and one syringe four+ hours prior.) This may be administered in addition to the pellets for a compounded effect.
Following these guidelines will allow you to determine the best system for your particular horse. Depending upon your horse’s sensitivity, you may require all or only part of the Perfect Prep Calming System. All of our formulas contain no prohibited substances, so there is no need to worry about withdrawal times when competing.
