The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum hosted a gallery talk to complement the Bold & Beautiful: Trailblazing Women of the American Quarter Horse exhibit on April 15 at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo. Several of the featured female American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inductees shared their personal stories and adventures during the gallery talk. Visit AQHA’s YouTube channel to hear the stories of AQHA’s first female president Ginger Hyland, long-time AQHA administrative assistant Betty Nix, the family of rancher Nancy Dear and the family of Harriett Peckham, remembered as the first lady of racing.

The exhibit recognizes the 12 female members of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. The women who have been inducted are a representation of the pioneers who have worked in all aspects of the industry. The spirit and dedication of these women represent the unsung heroes of the American Quarter Horse Association.

“The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit and fire,” said Sharon Ralls Lemon, an American author. “The women honored in the gallery have these elements imprinted on them due to the time they spent with Quarter Horses.”

The Bold & Beautiful exhibit also features legends Suzanne Jones, Anne Burnett Tandy and her daughter Anne Marion, and Carol Rose among others. Many contributed to the roots of the American Quarter Horse industry, but these women share the trail that led them to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.
