A few of our favorite horse enthusiasts have joined forces to star in an upcoming informative series on “The Horse Show” with Rick Lamb, a television program that airs weekly on RFD-TV. Darla Duncan of StallWatch hopped a plane last week to visit AQHA horse trainers, Jim and Deanna Searles, at their picturesque Circle S Ranch located in Scottsdale for a little dose of Hollywood in the Arizona desert.
The Horse Show with Rick Lamb is just one of many equine-centric programs featured on RFD-TV. Other shows on the network include All American Cowgirl Chicks, All Around Performance Horse, Best of America by Horseback, Chris Cox Horsemanship, Cinch High School Rodeo Tour, Universal Horsemanship, Down Under Horsemanship, Equestrian Nation, Gentle Giants, Horse Master with Julie Goodnight, Inside Reining, Discovering the Horseman Within, Little Britches Rodeo, Parelli Natural Horsemanship, Ride Smart With Craig Cameron, The Ride With Cord McCoy, Roping and Riding with Tyler Magnus, Sure In the Saddle, The Weekend Cutter, and Women’s Pro Rodeo Today.
Many equestrians might recognize the voice of Rick Lamb as the host of the wildly popular Road To The Horse competition that takes place annually in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. For this particular episode of The Horse Show, Lamb joined Duncan and the Searles to film an informative series about the state-of-the-art technological advances StallWatch is using to help horse owners keep an eye on their beloved four-legged companions.
In a nutshell, StallWatch provides peace of mind via an eye in the sky with their portable video surveillance cameras that are perfect for use on the road at a horse show and back home at the barn. With smartphone apps that can be accessed on the iPhone, iPad, and Android, as well as viewing available on a laptop or home computer, it’s easy to check on your horses from the comfort of your home, hotel room, or during travel.
In addition to Jim and Deanna Searles, StallWatch’s customer list reads like a who’s who of the AQHA, reining, racing, and hunter jumper circuits. Testimonials from McLain Ward, Matt Armenta, Murray Griggs, Starnes Quarter Horses, Heeley Pleasure Horses, Xtra Quarter Horses, Louise Serio, Debbie Stephens, Brian Welman Training Center, Shug McGaughey, Josh Lyons, and many more highlight the growing popularity of this easy-to-use technology.
“The Searles are using StallWatch, and they are fans of the product,” Duncan says. “In fact, they will also air on the show talking about the product and endorsing it. The information in the show is strictly about how the product works and the installation.”
“The scenario is that Rick Lamb meets me at the Searles’ place. I give him an overview of the product and its portability. He asks about how hard it is to setup, and then we install the kit together. We don’t talk any pricing or make a sales pitch; this is just about the facts about the kits and how easy they are to use.”
Although Duncan confesses that she’s far more comfortable behind the scenes, she did make an appearance on screen to assist with installation of the cameras.
“The shoot went great!” she says. “We were there for a couple of hours and installed cameras on the aisles and one on their main stallion, Allocate Your Assets, and one on a customer’s hunters, Lyles Al Lie, owned by Kirsten Farris.”
“I’d much rather be behind the camera, but Rick made it seem like I was just talking to him about the product. That helped to keep my focus away from the fact that someone was recording us! Rick even installed two of the cameras to show how easy it is.”
