Many training programs have a pinnacle event in mind. In this case, a work back plan is created based on when you want the horse to be in peak fitness. The journey leading up to the main event consists of weeks and months of conditioning including a lead up with smaller events to ensure the horse is ready for the more strenuous task ahead. It only takes one month off for a horse to start losing fitness.

AQHA Approves Recommendations From Welfare Commission Regarding Use of Dye, Belly Bands, and More

– AQHA will amend its current rule that prohibits the use of dye or other substances to alter or hide natural markings to also include the prohibition of dye to hide abuse.
– AQHA will prohibit the use of belly bands at AQHA events starting June 1, 2016.

AQHA Announces Rule Change: “Disqualification of Exhibitors For Attire that Would Give Unfair Advantage” Effective June 1st

AQHA judges will now have the authority to also disqualify exhibitors for any piece of accouterment or attire that would give an exhibitor an unfair advantage. The Executive Committee approved additional rule changes specifically for showmanship, horsemanship and hunt seat equitation classes.

28% Increase, More Than 6,000 Entries Recorded at This Year’s AQHA Level 1 Championships

All three shows were a huge success, with a 28 percent increase in entries over last year, totaling more than 6,000 entries, in addition to a 24 percent increase in exhibitors and 27 percent increase in horses.
