After learning the proper technique, people got the opportunity to measure, hands on, with two miniature horses in the hotel foyer! Jamee Bornstein brought two miniature horses into the hotel and allowed members to stand up the horses the right way and use the measuring stick. While it was a lot of fun, it was also quite the unique learning experience.

In 1987, Doug married his wife, Chris, who is an AQHA director-at-large and judge. She also serves on the AQHA Ranching Committee. Doug was a rancher, a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers and past president of many regional equine associations. His passions were his family, cutting horses and making bits and spurs. He was also an AQHA 20-year cumulative breeder.
