A last minute, late entry in Senior Western Riding proved to be a great decision for Jason Martin and Elis A Sleepin as they were named the Congress Champions this morning at the 2016 All American Quarter Horse Congress. Jason and “Eli” scored a 233.5 to win the class for owner Kirsten Thomsen.

This is Kenny’s fourth time winning the class, in a row, at the All American Quarter Horse Congress! What makes this string of wins even more special is that each time Lakins has won with an offspring of the AQHA stallion, Batt Man.

In Select Equitation Over Fences, Lori Bucholz made a remarkable comeback from a serious injury to win with her horse, Aslands Magic. At the Select World Show in 2015, Bucholz sustained a nasty fall during a warmup for this very same class.

PF Premo is not only a six-time AQHA World Champion and two-time Reserve World Champion, he has been named Grand Champion Stallion at the Quarter Horse Congress four times, and he’s just five years old.

In an “ironic twist,” as Leslie refers to it, she bred and raised all of the Open Working Hunter Champions here at the Congress, and they’re all related to Kamanyawannadance.

It may have been Ashley’s first time competing at the Quarter Horse Congress, and her first time showing Lola; however, she seemed like a veteran as she did a victory lap, while doing the most adorable version of a Congress Queen wave.
