
In 1982, the world of Quarter Horse Racing was in awe of an accomplishment that has yet to be reproduced by anyone. Owner Marvin Barnes watched two of his homebreds, Mr Master Bug and Miss Squaw Hand, finish first and second in the first ‘true’ $1,000,000 horse race the All American Quarter Horse Futurity. It was the first and last time an owner had the top two finishers in the All American Futurity.

SC-255 D. 1: Allows Green Western Riding patterns to be used for Novice Youth and Novice Amateur Western Riding.

Debbie loved the beach, her flower and vegetable gardens, and her dogs and Paint Horses. She’d been involved in the Carolina Paint Horse Club for 30 years and served as the youth director for the past 22. This was to be her last year serving in that position. Why did she stay so long after her daughter had aged out of the youth division? Debbie cared about making a difference in the lives of our youth, and that she did.

The hands-on afternoon session will include a shoeing demonstration by Burns during which the two primary methods to glue horse shoes to horses’ hooves—“direct glue” and “indirect glue” methods—will be explained in detail. Burns will then team up with Dr. Pleasant again to present a shoeing and hoof wall repair laboratory. The afternoon session has a limited capacity (40), so early registration is strongly encouraged.

The Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Circuit kicked off on a record setting pace posting nearly 1,800 entries across all divisions, 500 more than in 2015, at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Wednesday. Opening day featured American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) hunter and trail classes. Thursday’s classes include showmanship, halter, under saddle, reining and western riding classes.

Avolt, a Purdue University Graduate, has spent the last 12+ years with the company and has served as the announcer at the various shows.
