Brooke USA Pledges to Raise $25,000 Match for USEF Equine Disaster Relief Fund

The fund was developed in 2005 during the aftermath of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina as a way to help ensure the safety and well-being of horses during natural disasters. Since its inception, over $370,000 has been donated to aid horses across all breeds in disaster-related situations. All money donated to the fund is strictly used to benefit horses and horse owners. 100% of the donations will go to the Houston SPCA and other regional equine disaster relief efforts to provide relief from Hurricane Harvey.

Strong winds and rising flood waters destroyed fences and displaced large numbers of livestock. TAHC is coordinating with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension to establish livestock supply points in areas of critical need, and with Texas Department of Agriculture to receive and distribute donations of hay and livestock feed. TAHC requested the services of Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers (TSCRA) Special Rangers to assist in capturing stray livestock and returning them to rightful owners.

Marshall purchased the 6-year-old gelding by Cromed Out Mercedes and out of Peekaski Cielo by Gallo Del Cielo last June in Gainesville, Texas. She says “Cromey’s” biggest asset is his big stops and honest ability.

Butch Morgan of Elbert, Colorado, and SF Check Me Out were named the 2017 Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show at AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan). The award is presented to the exhibitor and horse with the highest combined age competing at the Adequan® Select World. The Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show award recognizes not only the exhibitors, but their equine partners. AQHA has proudly teamed with AQHA Corporate Partner Nutrena on this award since 2012.

Effective January 1, 2018, youth and amateur exhibitors will incur a three-point penalty if they bring the calf over backwards with the calf landing on its back or head with all four feet in the air. Open exhibitors will incur a disqualification (no score) if the calf is brought over backwards with the calf landing on its back or head with all four feet in the air.
